World Class Fight Promotions welcomed International Spotlight to Pittsburgh
World Class Fight Promotions was proud to welcome the international spotlight to the Monroeville ExpoMart on Friday May 30, 2008. Pittsburgh's own Monty Meza-Clay (28-1, 19 KO) defeated Omar Lizarraga (17-5-1, 12 KO) in the main event. The event was carried live on Telefutura, making this the first international broadcast of a Pittsburgh boxing event. Meza-Clay took care of business early in the fight with a body shot that floored Lizarraga at 1:31 in the first round. Lizarraga was not able to recover and get on his feet and was counted out by the referee.
Meza-Clay is the highest ranked featherweight in the United States (#1 WBO, #4 IBF, #9 WBA).
Meza-Clay is coming off a thrilling victory (TKO7) over recent IBF World Champion Eric Aiken in February. Lizarraga's last bout for the IBA Featherweight title, ended in a controversial draw.
